The 21 Most powerful minutes in a leader’s day
Written by John c. Maxwell
LEADERSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Momentum does not sustain itself.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUSTAIN MOMENTUM
The answer is not what but who: the leader. It takes a leader to sustain momentum. A leader must deal with three critical issues to sustain momentum.
1. A WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ORGANIZATION’S MOMENTUM.
The truth is that no matter whether the momentum is positive, negative, or nonexistent, it is the leader’s responsibility.
2. A WILLINGNESS TO DIRECT MOMENTUM INSTEAD OF LETTING IT DIRECT HIM
Momentum always has a direction. Most people in an organization are carried by that momentum and have little impact on it. But leaders cannot afford to surf momentum; they must steer it.

3. A WILLINGNESS TO BE ENTHUSIASTIC AT ALL TIMES
“You cannot kindle a fire in any other heart until it is burning in your own.”- Eleanor Doon. I have yet to meet a leader with a chronically negative attitude who was able to constantly sustain positive momentum.
