A Life Less Ordinary
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
“Ordinary” means:
- of no special quality or interest; commonplace; unexceptional:
- plain or undistinguished:
- somewhat inferior or below average
- customary; usual; normal
- the commonplace or average condition
- something regular, customary, or usual.
Matthew 16
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Promise of a life different, special, extraordinary!
(Why did the rich young ruler drop everything? Greed, Fear, Being Different?)
Matthew 16:26- 28
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Michelangelo pushed himself to meet a deadline and finish a work. A friend told him if he didn’t slow down he would risk his life. He responded “What else is life for?”
Think about those before us……..
Joseph *Genesis 41 – Cast away by his own only to rise up and over see all the land of Egypt.
Jonathan & his armourbearer *1 Samuel 14: 7 And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
I would like to have known the name of the Armour-bearer, but we are not told his name. There are a great many cases of useful persons whose names are hid. Sometimes God puts honor upon them before the church; sometimes He says, ' never mind, you are remembered before the Lord…
So many unnamed & unspoken but their life was so extraordinary! I know there is a special place for those whose works and sacrifices are remembered by the Lord! Not for a title, not for an award, not in judgment but for a work only in God and for God!
The transition of Saul to Paul created a powerful servant to ALL! Yet the more he gave, the more he grew & the more humble he became;

We live our day to day lives with what risk? With what work?
Are you living a life that is ordinary or extraordinary?
David Said: Psalm 139: 13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
We as church are in a very important transition, molded by God to empower us to take what God has so wonderfully made and use it, work it, make it something great for His glory.
